Things have been hard but I feel blessed every single day. Some days I am sad yet extremely happy. Richard's birthday was on 4/12/2023 and since I last wrote, he was sent from Wasco State Prison farther up to Sierra Conservation Center. He is about 8 hours away instead of 5. He was endorsed for Firecamp but is due to be home by July 25. He won't have enough time to complete firecamp yet his counselor sent him to SCC. Apparently, it is a bad "firecamp hub" where inmates are sent who are ineligible for camp due to extra charges. It has been hard keeping in contact with him. We have no email communication anymore, and I am lucky to schedule a video visit once every weekend. Richard has 100 days until he is home, give or take.
We have both made plans to re-celebrate our birthdays, holidays and any other special days we have missed while he has been away.
I wrote Richard a poem for his birthday along with sending him some books, and letters, and I put money on his books.
