I had found true love so young that I did not know what it was. I do remember finding Richard when I was with someone else so I figured that the timing was not right. That toxic and abusive ex I had dated for over 16 terrible years should have let me leave after I realized our relationship was doomed since he cheated on me.
I always thought of Richard. We would text each other every so often, checking on one another, and always ended up hanging out. Richard was the only one I wanted to be with yet I tried to deny it because of this reason and that reason.
We went through other relationships and were trying to figure life and love out. We pretended not to care about each other yet would drop everything to see one another every few years. Richard was bold at times, stating he would put everything in his past to be with me but again, I would figure the timing was not right every time.
One thing I never could deny is his love felt like home. We would spend several hours together and it was so comforting, wonderful, and memorable. Richard showered me with love, support, and gifts yet giving me the gift of his time was my favorite. We finally got married on November 27, 2022. We simply could not wait anymore to spend the rest of our lives together and finally, the timing was right.
