Pieces of the Past.

Updated: Jul 28, 2023

Richard has been working on a memory book since he's fantastic at remembering all the pieces of our past. From the first time we spoke to our first kiss, to the first time we hung out, and even the first Thanksgiving and Halloween spent together were memories never lost. Richard remembers almost every little detail. We didn't take photos much back then so I don't have any but I do wonder if anyone has photos of us somewhere.

Richard was around when I was in a toxic, domestically abusive relationship so a lot of my memories are foggy. I can remember bits and pieces of the wonderful times we had because my days would typically end in a traumatic way. On a better note, I wanted to share a story or two that Richard shared with me that helped me remember the best days of my life.

Richard and I spent quite a bit of time together during high school and this particular memory at a friend's house with a large group of people playing spin the bottle stood out. After Richard's spun the bottle, it landed on my friend Jesse, who sat near me. Everyone including her, knew how we both felt towards each other. She slightly spun the bottle over to me so Richard could kiss me instead and she looked over at me shrugging. We were so happy because we did really care about each other! Both of us, down on our hands and knees, inched forward. Richard stopped with his face close waiting for me to meet him for the most passionate lil kiss. The magic kiss felt like it lasted a lifetime until it was rudely interrupted by oohing and ahhing accompanied by yelling, " OKAY CHRISTINA", and " OKAY RICHARD THAT IS ENOUGH!" This moment was special because there was a time we were nervous to show others how much we truly loved one another. As crazy as it was, we knew we loved each other at that age and people in our friend group constantly teased and taunted us. After a while, we learned to not care what others thought of us.

One day Richard decided he wanted to woo me and ditched school, to go into the neighborhood only to find the prettiest flower he could for me. After a two-hour search, his bloody hands found a rose that was perfect. He took off all the thorns, snuck back into school, and found me in my class. When the teacher's back was turned, he slipped into the seat next to me as I sat in the back near the door and he handed me the rose, wearing the biggest grin. I was so surprised he was there first of all and the fact he was thinking of me, and was thoughtful he brought me a gift. This is the kind of person I remember him being. He constantly went out of his way to make me smile.

I will share some more wonderful memories soon! Stay tuned. x0x0x
